The Dog

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Apparently being a mom of twins wasn't quite exciting enough for me, so in June we got a dog. She is beautiful and I love her, but man is she a pain in the ***. So how did I end up with a dog? A friend of mine (you know who you are) got a beautiful Golden Retriever. She posted cute pictures of the dog and the kids, and I was hooked. I wanted to have those kind of pictures. So now I have the dog. She is almost 7 months old and weighs 57 lbs, so a little more dog than I was hoping for but we still love her. I've had her in training classes for the past 4 weeks and I think it's going well, at least it goes well when the trainer is there. It's a different cup of tea when we are home with 2 screaming banshees (a.k.a. the kids). So she is a work in progress and some day she will be a great, obedient dog. At least I hope she will...

Time for school again!

It's that time of the year again. Today the kids had their first day of preschool. We were all looking forward to it and they couldn't wait to get out the door this morning. It's hard to believe that a year from now they will be going into Kindergarten. When did they grow up? Seems like just yesterday we brought them home from the hospital, but here they are on their way to being big kids.

I'm such a blogging slacker....

I can't believe it's been so long since my last update. I think I need to be better about coming on here at least weekly! This summer's goal: be a better blogger.

My Little Soccer Players

Monday, September 29, 2008

The kids have started soccer at the YMCA. They are having so much fun with it. Sofia is such a little go-getter and Ryan is a great dribbler. We had our first game this past weekend, although I had to miss it since I have a pesky cold. They did great and Sofia managed to score a goal (although possibly into the opposing team's net). Lots of fun was had by both of them and they are already looking forward to their next game!

Here are a few pictures:

Is it over yet?

Hurricane season that is. It looks like Hurricane Ike is coming our direction. I'm less than thrilled. I'm hoping it has a change of mind and decides TX is not the place to visit, or that it will unexpectedly weaken. Either way, I guess it's better to be prepared. SO tomorrow I will head out in search of batteries and flashlights. I also have to dig up our candles...

I hope everyone in it's potential path stays safe!

2 kids and a cave

Monday, September 8, 2008

Yesterday we ventured to InnerSpace cave, which isn't too far from here. The kids were all on board as we were meeting Olivia & family there. We got them explorer hats and boarded the cable car to be lowered down to the cave entrance. This all went fairly well until Sofia noticed that we were in a cave. For some reason she is less than fond of caves or dark unknown places. Somehow Derek managed to get her out of the cable car. He convinced to look for Tinkerbell (a.k.a. BATS). Let me just say that I don't like bats, I don't care how small and "cute" they are, I'm just not a fan. So it's safe to say that I was more freaked out by the little creatures zooming above our heads than the kids were. We made it through the whole thing with little incident, although there was a close call with a bat who aimed right at me, but I managed to dodge. I think the kids had a pretty good time.

Where did the time go?

Friday, August 29, 2008

Apparently I no longer have babies or toddlers. They are preschoolers. They are kids. Yesterday we had our first day of school. They were so excited. We got all our stuff ready and headed out the door. We walked in found their classroom assignment and slowly made our way down to the classroom. They jumped right in. I managed to take a few pictures before kissing them goodbye and walking out the door. Now, I always said I wouldn't be one of THOSE Moms who get all teary eyed on the first day of school. I was doing just fine, but as I opened the door to the building and stepped out into the sunshine I couldn't help but to get teary as I walked to the car by myself. It seemed like such a milestone. It was the first time I had ever left them with someone other than family. I drove home with a mix of excitement for all they would experience and sadness. Maybe I was a little sad that they didn't even care that I left them. They waved me off with a "Bye, Mom" and moved on, leaving me behind. I am really proud of them and am really proud of the little people that they are becoming.
